It's odd that this is actually a coherent character concept, because it is, on a surface level, indistinguishable from typical shounen protags.
Maybe it was just the translation, but I feel that Nasu should have made a greater effort to establish that what Shriou does is not intended to be lightly and unquestioningly interpreted as admirable heroism. I was bored out of my mind reading that shit.

There were monologues though, some slow people though didn't like that Shirou's every thought and action wasn't narrated right to them.
Because it would hurt the show and only autists care about them. They still conveyed the message of UBW completely, it's not their fault so many retard watch it for the action and don't think twice about anything.

Shirou has tons of important monologues. 2 is fucking nothing and there were LOTS of scenes where he needed those monologues because he acts like a complete retard without them.

The novel was extremely fucking clear about it, and there are multiple scenes whose entire purpose is to call attention to the fact that what Shirou does isn't simple altruistic recklessness.
