I'd just say it's the natural evolution of every artist and going back and rehashing while expecting Takeuchi to be able to recapture the feel of the original is just not going to happen since over time people's art styles get much simpler the more and more they draw as the evolution of repeated drawing leads to shortcuts which whether intentional or unintentional leads to characters looking like other characters.
