I never accepted Saber Rider as the leader of the group, even as a kid. To me, Fireball was always the most important one.
It certainly didn't help that the German dub didn't gave a shit about accuracy and made shit up on the fly, with them shitting on Saber Rider on a regular basis.
I wish there was a sub for the original Japanese series, though, to watch the "lost" episodes, since some stuff (mainly violence, but also parts of the mecha fights) were cut.

Teknoman, which was Saban's cut of Tekkaman Blade in 1994. It's really hammy (they called the baddie DARKON, fer chrissakes) but it was actually pretty violent and edgy for kid's TV back then, and the voice acting actually holds up surprisingly well.
