Oh don't get me wrong, Mizukami is my favorite mangaka, and his stuff has always had charm. It's just his maturation. Early stuff felt pretty disjointed and wasn't afraid of going at the fourth wall to try for a gag. It's much rougher in every way and that's the specific charm I was referencing there.

You could start by letting go of the idea that the art has to be godlike to read a series. Baki might be awkward due to the facial structures and how every muscle is protruding, but it blends in well with the rest of the art.

If I think something seems interesting, I read it, if you let art style keep you away you miss out on great stuff like Love Roma. I think effort and intention matter more than technical proficiency, when I look at something like Baki I immediately see the time and effort that went into the drawings, regardless of an odd style, so I'd never compare it to that no effort webcomic shit. Even when something has an art style that seems off-putting at first that can grow on you and start to feel natural if the story sucks you in, look at Fukumoto for example.
As a side note, Baki is incredibly easy to read for some reason, I got through hundreds of chapters in 2 days.
