Why did Nichijou flop again?
>>
because trumpets were used in the op
>>
>>133916663
Unfunny forced animation
>>
>>133916663
Sales-wise? Because the BDs were hilariously expensive.
>>
Because it was unfunny and overused sakuga for no reason other than LOLRANDUMxD. There's also how the pandering was way too blatant to the point it turned off most people (the forced tsundere scenes were just cringeworthy, not to mention this scene in pic related where a high school girl says moe over and over as if it's normal).
>>
>>133916725
How come there's no english dub? inb4 i'm a disgusting pleb

It's just much easier for me to watch and digest when it's in english, even if it is slightly inferior to the original, i don't give a shit
>>
Unfunny shit with forced animation.
>>
>>133916813
What the fuck is "forced animation"?
>>
>>133916663
People give all sorts of reasons but really...

It's just not something you can fap to a whole lot.
>>
>>133916839
Buzzword used by teenagers.
>>
BDs were overpriced even by Japanese standards with very little incentive to buy them (i.e. no event tickets, no specials, no collectibles, etc). So it created a situation where even obsessive otaku, even the built-in KyoAni fanbase weren't willing to splurge on them.

>>133916708
I liked pasta better when it was long, stupid walls of text. These small bait pastas are too effective at reeling in people.
>>
Humor from exaggerated reactions and yelling gets old.
>>
It's basically this:
>>133916877

The quality of the show is amazing, but the marketing and production of the physical release (which is what reels in the money in the anime industry) was retarded, so the show flopped.
But I guess no matter how many times this is explained, we'll still get the constant threads about Nichijou flopping.

Basically, the reason why the ignorant idiots dislike Nichijou =/= what made the show sell badly.
>>
>>133917115
>>133916813
>>133916763

I remember people on here were obsessed with Nichijou and gave it so much praise and plastered the boards with reaction pics from the show like 3 years ago. Now from what I can tell in this thread everybody suddenly hates it with a thousand suns. What happened?
>>
>>133917171
memes happened
It's also much cooler to hate something
>>
>>133917171
They're just faking it to bait people.
Nichijou is amazing and flopped due to ridiculously priced DVD's as well as a massive earthquake happening mid season.
>>
>>133917065
>someone has different opinion from me
>BAIT!
>>
>>133917171
The people who like Nichijou generally avoid the "why did Nichijou flop" threads because of the lack of any discussion. The premise of the thread is bad and attracts idiots.
Nichijou is still pretty universally loved on /a/.
>>
Forced comedy and shit female cast. Prove me wrong with a second season though
>>
>>133917232
No, it is literally bait now. The "forced animation" post has been reposted in every single Nichijou thread for like the last half year at least. It's copy pasta, which makes it bait, regardless of the opinion stated. Just make a search on the archives of "forced animation".
>>
>>133917237
>universally loved on /a/.
Now THIS is bait.
>>
Maybe if I was a kid still into LOLSORANDUM humor in anime I'd like it.

But I'm a grown man with responsibilities, I don't have time to watch stuff for kids.
>>
>>133917293
K-k-k-k-k-killllll yourself.
>>
>>133916839
this is a heavily baited road that you do not want to walk down anon.
>>
This >>133916763 and this >>133917115 desu.
I made it to the ep15 or something, and only because of insane hype everywhere. Fuck me if this shit was even remotely funny.
>>
>>133917265
I've seen "forced animation" used plenty of times when I wouldn't call it bait by any stretch of imagination and it's been attached to nichijou for kind of obvious reason as excess of animation is overbearing in some cases, but I don't think there's actually much of a reason to argue about that.
>>
Honestly the 100% real answer is because it lacked 3 major things.
-Major conflict
-Real romance
-Fanservice
The Japanese anime industy is literally fueled by these things alone, and Nichijou didn't deliver. Japanese fans are petty as FUCK.
>>
>>133916663
Japs didn't like it for reasons only someone a part of that culture would understand. As all none of us grew up in Japanese society, and few can read their moonspeak, difficult to know why they didn't like it.

As far as us Westerners, we aren't a relevant market so our opinions of animes only matter when someone wants try to effectively market a series to a Western audience (Nichijou was almost certainly not one of those series). It's flop had literally nothing to do with what any of us thought of the show.
tl;dr nobody in this thread actually knows because none of us are Japanese
>>
>>133917525
>Japs didn't like it for reasons only someone a part of that culture would understand. As all none of us grew up in Japanese society, and few can read their moonspeak, difficult to know why they didn't like it.
It's not nice to project your stupidity onto others, Anon.
Plenty of people can understand moon, and both thee moonspeakers and non moonspeakers among us have all gone over the reasons why Nichijou didn't sell in Japan dozens of times.
>>
>>133917495
No, again I'm talking about the specific post
>Unfunny shit with forced animation
I'm not talking about the actual essence of the words and the opinion it portrays, what I'm trying to explain to you is that that exact post, word for word, is posted in every Nichijou thread and it always gains replies asking what forced animation is supposed to mean. It's a copypasta like "What the fuck did you just fucking say about me etc". It's not posted because the poster thinks that, it's posted because it's a meme in Nichijou threads.
Jesus, why do I have to explain what a copypasta is to a person on 4chan.
>>
>>133917525
No, the Japanese liked the series, they just didn't care to buy the physical release because it was overpriced and retarded. Which made the show flop.
Read the thread, specifically:
>>133916877
>>
>>133916663
They Make the BD into 13 volume not the usual 6-8 BD
>>
>>133917976
2 cour shows are 9 discs usually actually, but you're on the right track.
>>
>>133916839
When animators waste time, money, skill and effort on dumb mundane shit like a character slowly standing up. It's among KyoAni's worst crimes.

Each to their own, I fucking loved exactly that. The pacing of those scenes with incredible animation and slowmotion and cinematics etc were great. Sure it's forced, because they spent effort on making the animation pristine for stuff some studios wouldn't pay as much attention to - but I don't see how better and stylistic animation is ever a bad thing.
>>
>>133918202
I don't think you fully grasp comedy as an abstract ideal.
The fact that intense effort was put into something mundane is exactly what makes it funny.
There's levels to that shit man.
Don't think about it.

I absolutely agree. That, the dog scenes, Mai's post-ironic jokes. And the best animated joke in all of anime's history - the three-part wooden cube explanation. Seriously the best punchline, I was so fucking destroyed.

There is a fan made dub of the OP, but that's all there is. It's actually better than you'd expect, they did a pretty good job.

>>
>>133918467
>the three-part wooden cube explanation
Definitely the best skits in the entire show.
I forget if the talent show was the second or the third, but that one was amazing.
>>
>>133918496
More like the original was so good that the only way for it to turn out bad would be for it to have no effort put into it, or for the singers to be extremely bad.
>>
>>133918467
I was honestly amazed how well-crafted the jokes in the series were. The Japanese typically have the shittiest sense of humor.
>>
>>133918513
It was the second, with the pom poms.
The first is still my favorite because it took me completely by surprise. I seriously had no idea what was going on until the last 3 seconds, and I had to pause to fully grasp the genius.

>>133918548
Well yeah, that's probably part of it.

No one got a sense of humor in Japan.

No wonder birth rates are so low.
>>
>>133918289
>>133918362

well yeah

the visual gags fucking make the series

its also nice to watch a show that isn't animated like shit

2001: Space Odyssey also flopped, and Nichijou is even deeper. Greatest masterpieces always pass by misunderstood by plebeians
>>
>>133916839
When you animate things without consent, resulting in unwanted motion and flow
>>
>>133916663
Because it's almost entirely visual gags that are just hit or miss, and a lot of the scenes are dragged out for far too long. Moreover, it was super expensive to make but had no real chance to catch on and make the money back.

Also, the Blu-rays were stupidly expensive to help compensate the cost of production.
>>
>>133920161
that was boring
>>
>>133916663
For the last time anon, earthquake.
>>
>>133916663
The humor sucked lower than gravity
>>
>>133917171
More people actually watched it.

It's among my top 5 shows ever, If you don't like Nichijou you don't like life itself and should put a bullet in your brain
