They are fun together some of the time but as a dynamic they aren't as good as the others for me because a lot of the time I feel like the characters aren't actually creating tension between themselves, and instead something beyond their control happens to put them in a compromising position.
Also Kyoshi doesn't seem to value romantic or sexual acts with Mari like he does with other girls. Though that does make for an interesting contrast with her sister, especially when comparing their respective boob grab chapters. His nonchalance towards her might belie the comradery you speak of but it doesn't do much for their sexual tension levels.
