The difference is that Alternative isn't a shitty nobody-wins harem, but rather a half-decent satirical action comedy where you know exactly who's going to win, and both of them do indeed win.

IMHO the random stuff was pretty enjoyable, so long as you keep in mind that it's a comedy rather than an action show.
It's not an entry-level show, though. You want to be wrist-deep in dank anime tropes when you watch Alternative.
