you can animate the shit out of a battle all you want but when its 20 minutes long it's not interesting anymore, especially when you know what the ending is going to be
it's like watching a number go from 1 to 2 in 0.01 increments with a fancy ass transition between the numbers, at some point you get the idea and wish it'd move on to something else
