Fate/Stay Night is a gateway eroge of the worst kind. It's a bad game, a clusterfuck of story and characterization that isn't very well done by any aspect, but which attempts to compensate for its weaknesses by adding in excessive waify faggotry and DARKNESS. The normal anon can see this as the shit it is, and may enjoy it, hate it or be indifferent to it, but all the while recognizing that the franchise itself, regardless of their opinion, is plain bad.
However, these very aspects that try to smear over the shit of its core make it a breeding ground for aspie, unsociable underageb& faggots who engage in every kind of faggotry both online and in the real world. The superpowered characters all trying their hardest to look cool, the noble phantasms, peculiar, colorful clothes, the whole servants faggotry and everything about the Fate/Stay Night world fuels their escapist fantasies, while the pity-party character backgrounds, emphasis on heroism, and overall preachiness of the series make it fit just right with the mary-sueish drives of your average preteen and his sense of unwarranted self-importance towards the world. Exactly the kind of shit that makes little kiddies and underageb& retards eat this shit right the fuck up.
Fate/Stay Night is basically THE franchise to attract the most hated anime fanbase known to /a/, which is why, regardless of individual opinions, it is the responsibility of every anon to troll the fuck out of this show and everyone who likes it, and ensure that no Fate/Stay Night threads ever encourage the newfriends to show their faces here.

Fate/stay night is a beautiful exercise in the emotional craft of storytelling. It isn't a story about mythological heroes going at war. It's a story about the importance of what heroes represent, and fighting for those ideals. Tightly plotted, thematically consistent, emotionally affecting, and incredibly layered. There's so much more to Fate/stay night than there may seem to be at first glance
UBW's story glides across the surface of an enormous ocean of philosophy. The anime simultaneously questions the metamorphosis of human ideals, man's quest for heroism, etc. If you don't understand the full weight of the words "I was not wrong", you haven't really paid attention.
There are thousands of themes seamlessly woven together. Idealism vs Utilitarianism, the importance of hope in the face of adversity, wishes as an inherently selfish act, cultural expectations of good and evil, the contradictory nature of child heroes, redemption, and a whole bunch mythic revisionism and allegory to top it all off.
Don't get me started on the visuals, every frame tells a second, sometimes even third narrative underneath the first. I think it's statement to its greatness
Nasu crafted not a game, not a "story", but a universe. It's every bit as detailed, every bit as supple and responsive as ours. It's a moving Sistine Chapel ceiling. But it's wasted on the cynics like you who can't discern between valid artistic statements and disposable crap.

Fate/stay night is an aesthetic experience. I can't tap into your nervous system and make you see what I see, but I can try to explain the soaring heights Fate/stay night sent the show going public to.

Dancing atop this fathomless ocean of meaning is Nasu's story. It revels in all that lies beneath, but only suggests... Only hints. He leaves it to you to draw the myriad connections he's put in the anime.
But this requires, you see, some understanding of history, science, imperialism, philosophy, theology, astronomy, and anthropology.
Fuyuki City is simply too grand a creation for some to come to terms with. Maybe one day you'll grow up enough to "get" it. I've seen it about 15 times and I'm still learning.

Mobile Suit Gundam is still hands-down the most compelling anime of all time. While NGE tries to replicate the complexity of war through the eyes of a child, Gundam embodies it in a remarkable tale for the ages.
Coupled with top-notch animation and a futurisitc yet realistic setting, one could see the parallels and future in our society when compared to theirs.
Characters are not painted as black and white, but as complex unions of character traits. Controversy even arises in calling the Federation the "Heroes" of the story, as moral grey areas arise for both factions.
Truly the most riveting anime, one which cannot be replicated.
