They tried to sell rocks for the price of diamonds. BDs are already expensive enough.
Poor writing. The characterization was severely lacking and the plot was non existent.
Moreover, all the jokes fell flat because of their lolsorandum nature and poor timing. The writers should be ashamed, the budget was so high and they fucked it up. The typical response is that "hurr durr context makes it funny" but even the nips hated the "jokes".
Most egregious of all is the forced animation- that is to say scenes where the animation makes up for the goddawful writing. Consider these clips where each "joke" could have been make in 20-30s, but is instead dragged out to be 2m+.

There is literally nothing funny about these but the forced animation fools viewers into thinking that it's good.

They went all out for this series and it never drops in quality at all, one of the few shows where I can really say that, of course it's a fuckin' slice of life so it doesn't need good animation but they went the extra mile, I can really appreciate it for that. Not only is the animation great but the timing on all the scenes is perfect, plus it's really wacky.

The jokes themselves aren't bad. The manga tells the exact same ones, and they're funny there. The problem is that KyoAni botched the delivery on most of them. They took 4komas that you can read in 10 seconds and turned them into 5 minute scenes where you'll inevitably figure out the punchline well before it happens
