>In light of the popularity (and controversy) of the new Osomatsu-san ("Mr. Osomatsu") TV anime, Chiba TV will be re-broadcasting the Heisei era Osomatsu-kun anime from the late 1980's. The Heisei era Osomatsu-kun is the 2nd TV anime adaptation of Fujio Akatsuka's gag manga, and it originally ran for 88 episodes on Fuji TV from 1988 - 1989. The Heisei era Osomatsu-kun is directed by Akira Shigino and features animation from Studio Pierrot.
>The re-broadcast of Osomatsu-kun begins on Chiba TV on November 17, 2015, at 5:30 PM JST, and will it continue every Tuesday at the same time on a weekly schedule thereafter. Please note: Although the series originally ran for 88 episodes, only 86 episodes are listed for the re-broadcast.

i watched the 88' series and i can say it was boring as fuck, today's series is 100x funnier and fun.
Besides characters were a lot different back then and Iyami was the MC in many of the episodes, and the sextuplets were the side characters.
I might watch it for nostalgia but thats it

It's not enough to disagree, anon: tell us why. I have only seen the Spanish dubbed episodes, and they were very entertaining, unfortunately there aren't more of them. But I think that Osomatsu-san is the superior show, even though they sometimes resort to bottom-of-the-barrel referential humour.

Perhaps it's just a matter of taste in humor. I really like Iyami and Chibita so I don't mind that they get the lion's share of screen time. The shinigami episode was funnier and darker than anything Osomatsu-sam has done so far IMO.
The style also reminds me heavily of Urusei Yatsura, which happens to be my favorite comedy anime.
The more matsu, the merrier I'd say.
