StrikerS just about toed the line, but it set the problems that have resulted in the series' holding pattern of despair over the last five or so years in motion. It really needs to remember that it's a magical girl show with a sci-fi flavor, not an army procedural. And for the love of god, stop throwing in legions of new characters and plot points when you have plenty of old ones you could tie together and make it actually feel like a continuity again.
Hopefully the movie can recapture some of that lost magic, because a Duke Nanoha Forever after all this time would be the final nail without a doubt..

The aesthetic is not the genre. A magical girl show with science fiction trimmings is still a magical girl show, and military show where they happen to use magic is still a military show.
