It tried to sell itself on the banter between the two odd couple 'buddies' but that was lackluster, Hina and the other girl whose name I forget similarly had okay charecterisations, but the delivery was also on the understated side of the fence and it left Bizon being the only ham in a time traveling show about yaoi powered mechs fighting the loyal and drugged up soldiers of Zogilia. In short it set itself up with a full retard cheese plot but had it acted out by fairly normal characters.

It's funny the second I saw her character design before I even knew anything about the cast my first reaction was, "Hey cool a Saori Hayami character". She's really at home in action girl roles, particularly mecha.
The sea was a pretty boring scenery for all those mech fights.
They should've done a collab with Love Live. If they did that, they could've saved this series.It's the same studio and character designer anyways right? Why not just do Love Live Xenoglossia, and have it set in the Buddy Complex universe?

Because it has no hype staff and aired right after valvrave, without gimmick and shock values people called it is boring and generic, eventhough it has established plots that always knows where they were going, that secured its pretty small but stable fanbase. It was flop but not as hard as Argevollen and M3, and still managed to sell >1k every volume which was better than Space Dandy and The Fool that aired in same season, even Captain Earth ended up selling lower than BC.

Pretty sure that was his point. It came out in a time when people had lost all faith in Sunrise and would not be regained until Cross Ange.
I don't think that it bored me or got on my nerves, but it was really forgettable. All I remember is time travel, that the main character like basketball, and that the main heroine couldn't make up her mind on whether she wanted to kill him or not.
In an age where over a dozen shows air per season, and mecha isn't in short supply, your show has to be much better than just "not horrible".
