I don't think it actually shortened her life, I think it seems that lack of life force just seems to translate more into stability, like Harumi, Alaia's body is now weaker so has to get periodic spiritual remedies.
The reason I say that life force seems to be stability is because of in volume 11Sanae taking Koutarou's life force, but him being fine eventually afterwards without (that I remember) life force being transferred back to him, just the drain on it being stopped.

As much as I love how the girls interact with one another in their daily lives and in battle, I feel a little bad for Clan and Kiriha in the sense that their strength in stratagem doesn't get to be played out in the power struggle at Forthorthe Empire. Frankly, Clan's importance to the future of the empire cannot be understated by this point, as she's one of the living participants to the whole Blue Knight saga. I am very curious as to see what Theia's mother and Clan would do given her unmentionable importance to the history of the Empire.
Magic Kingdom and Forethorthe are connected directly by the Blue Knight mythos, although I wonder if the Earth People's involvements ends only in collaboration with the dark rainbow, and no more than that.

I really like about Rokujouma in showing how the magical girls are practical when it comes to the use of magic. There's no banal aversion to using whatever mean that works in Rokujouma. Heck, Yurika ended up treading the line of technicality in using Encyclopedia since ancient Fornethorthian magic doesn't fall under magical kingdom's magic control.

Here's a snippet from vol12 about that.

That girl- being Maki that was about to die, needed more than just medical help, but also that of a will to live on and bonds with other people. The reason why Signaltinn had shown Koutarou how the true view of Maki is to tell him about what is needed to save Maki.

"Maybe... because I keep others out in the depths of my heart.."

This common will between the two led to Signaltinn invoking a new spell.
The strength of a contract tying the heart of these two together; an everlasting bond that cannot be severed.
This was wholly necessary for both of them at that point in time.

You don't really need an explanation for them. It's just alterations of the spell incantations in order to slightly alter their effects. They mostly seem to be divided into altering the strength of the incantation, altering it's speed, altering the effective radius, and granting spells homing abilities.

The magic may have caused this bonding, but Koutarou and Maki have spent quite some time after that incident. Koutarou believes that those things will simply vanish, and Koutarou has his reasons to believe as such.

I watched the anime while it was airing, but from what I understand it's extremely condensed and covers the LN up to volume 7, but there's only 10 volumes translated (2 of which are a side-story) is that right?
At this point should I just give up and try to learn moonrunes or is it viable to wait for the rest to be translated? The whole thing is something close to 20 volumes isn't it?

We return to the conflict of the magic kingdom by volume 18-19, and it starts with Satomi's Knight order admitting the other invader girls, and we see the Dark Rainbow being developed more, especially with Dark Purple the necromancer being built up for what's to come.
It's important to know that Nana and Kanae (Sanae's mother) were involved with the invaders through Sanae and Kiriha. Sanae being targeted by Dark Rainbow as were Kiriha, with Sanae's soul splitting from her corporal body form 10 years ago and Kiriha almost killed for her magical energy by the then Dark Navy (Maya). Kanae and Nana saw combat during Koutarou's rescue of Kiriha.
In addition, Kanae became entangled with the invaders when Maya made an attack on Yurika while she and Harumi were together (Kanae came to know of Harumi due to Sanae being hospitalized at the same place that Harumi goes for her physicals,) and it was in this action that Harumi finally inherits Alaia's magical powers in full.
Kanae lost all contact with Nana after Nana self-detonated to save Yurika a year prior to the invasion. It was through Yurika that Kanae was bought up to speed and the link of Maya's collaboration with the Earth People started to dawn on the two, and that sets up the stage for Kiriha's arc (vol 15-16)
Yurika's request for the invaders to help Nana to regain her mobility was taken very seriously and Nana was checked in to the Blue Knight. After that, the Dark Rainbow started a mass kidnapping of children and it led to the invaders to mobilize against them, where they found that the members of the Dark Rainbow are working together and are studying physics throw science against them. Maya hasn't play a role yet.
Magical girl Crimson was developed as a character. She lusts for battle, and finds joy of existence through combat, and she was captured by the invaders by the end of volume 18, and she's taken to the magical kingdom by the invaders in volume 19.

I will answer most of them. No3 I need to read it again.1. That pic is showing what went down in volume 19, when Maki, Kiriha, Clan and Yurika wanted to merge together to fight Dark Purple, but they ended up with the goddess. The goddess got 4 orbs this around.
Green orb was tossed first, and the goddess turned to Kiriha's appearance.
Orange was next, and she looked like Clan after that,
Blue came after that, and she looked like Maki, who decided to conjure up a magical sword for the attack,
and cup noodle got herself back after that.
2. Yurika didn't really have a clue about what exactly went down when she merged with Harumi. The whole goddess thing is still left unanswered. It is heavily hinted that the girls are all part of this goddess though.
4. Ruth, Sanae in wonderland is the best chapter in volume 20, where Ruth and Sanae took a trip in Koutarou's dream. It touches on Koutarou's loneliness and his trauma from the death of his mom. His ties with Mackenzie is one of his strongest bonds, and it made both Ruth and Sanae a little jelly.

There's no doubt after volume 12 that Yurika is a magical girl to Koutarou and the invaders, and the magical kingdom recognizes Yurika as a gifted magical girl who is fit to inherit Nana's title.Nana ended up kicking some ass in volume 19. Oh yes, it turns out that Nariachal, the very fortress that was warped out by Flan in volume 8.5 had ended up at the magic kingdom after all.

Nariachal happens to be the seed of the magical kingdom, and the earth people came from the alchemists that were displaced. Koutarou, Flan and Harumi realized what had happened, and the whole invasion of room 106 turned out to be set in stone by the whole Blue Knight saga all along.
The rest of the invaders clicked in with this and they realized that they weren't connected by pure coincidence.

The best part to me about Volume 19 to meis how that Nana and Yurika get to fight side by side against Maya. Nana was a cripple and her prosthesis were so bad that it took everything just to let her move about as an little old lady would, but she ended up saving the invaders and holding her own in battle.

There was also a section with Ruth.They're walking back arm in arm from Clan, Ruth cuddles up to him and rests her head on his shoulder, conversation goes on, talking about how he isn't really used to things like that because of trying to keep everyone at arms length after his mother died, Ruth says that they'll wait because she thinks that's what love is. Koutarou is lost for words for a while and says (after asking her to definitely not tell the others) that he sometimes sees them as angels. Ruth replies with. That if they really were angels, they wouldn't want to be loved, and follows it up with. "We're normal people, that love you, and want to be loved." Koutarou then thinks to himself that them being like that makes them seem all the more like angels.
Can't really get much more direct than that, and that certainly doesn't seem like it was misheard or misunderstood.

Koutarou's personality is massively shaped through that very topic.The whole thing gets set up in volume 10, where Clan and Koutarou got to 1999 (11 years from the start of the story,) ran into Kiriha who went to the surface in search of her recently deceased mother, and Koutarou had to witness his own mother's death again.
At any rate, Koutarou has huge sympathies toward Kiriha, Shizuka and Alaia over going through that same kind of loss that he went through.
