How exactly are stuff like LN different from mocked stuff like Twilight?

The settings and the tropes mostly.Adaptation of Fate/stay night for western audience when
Twilight is for teenage girls. LNs are for teenage boys.
Twilight is aimed at pre-teen girls, LNs are usually aimed at pre-teen boys.

they're not
LNs are literally written like 6th grader fanfiction
it's that they're close enough to the otaku culture that they're not treated like real literature

>EOP talking about MTL's like it's an accurate representation of the Japanese Language
Cum on step it up!!!

The main difference is that LNs come from glorious nippon, so weebs will defend that shit to the death.

LN are written like shit, that's not very far off
One is in English and Japanese, the other is pretty much entirely in Japanese.
To be fair, not all LNs or tween novels are on the same level of degeneracy as Index or SAO or Twilight. Though most are.
At the very least, I didn't feel like Spice and Wolf was insulting my intelligence when I read it.
I couldn't even make it two chapters into Index before I closed it in disgust.

Most really aren't, but there are some worth reading like Rokka

Remember that LN =/= novels.
LN are the equivalent of something like Animorphs: books for young teens/preteens. It's just that even after they have grown some people still love to read LNs because most of them have long stories like Index or Horizon.
