Not him, but after you're flipped and repositioned the copied part, apply a layer mask, and use gradient with black color from bottom to top on said selection. Fiddle a bit with the blend amount afterwards in blending options until you get something you like.

I played around with several different gradiant lengths, but I didn't notice much difference. I also tried to skew one for a 3D effect. Maybe I just can't into photoshop.

If it's a big 1080p 10bit file it can take a few seconds to load. I get to enjoy my waifu while I wait.
I also use a second monitor for viewing, so when the file is done playing it goes back to the splash screen and sits there until I'm ready to watch something else.
