Found out I'm gonna be working for 4 hours on Xmas day today, which means I can't travel home for Christmas.
Another Christmas with /a/ is on the cards.

Last year was actually pretty fun on /a/. I was at home for Xmas day, but a lot of my family members were away so I spent most of the day online.

You can't just put a hat on everything! Putting a Santa hat on something does not make it Christmas themed!
can someone post the hat template?

Sure. Any advice for making cards?
>>133106475
Take some paper and draw an anime character, the worse the drawing the more they will like it.
>>133106597
Oh well then they are in for a treat.
>>133106597
Can't draw?
TRACE!
But color it in your own style. Glitter, oils, macaroni, Crayons™, etc
Don't let the fact that you're not allowed to use scissors keep you from delivering!

If you're absolutely stuck for ideas on making a design from scratch, just get a storebought card with a reindeer or penguin on the front, draw a relevant wig on a separate piece of paper/card, cut out and glue wig on animal. Then decorate the insides of the card with crayon scribble and well wishing.
>>133107421
That actually looks pretty good.

First time sending cards here, can anyone answer these:
How many stamps do I put on the envelope?
Does the card size matter?
Is there a weight limit? I plan to decorate it and shit
>>133108119
it has to be pretty heavy for a card to need anything more than 1 stamp, but when in doubt take it to the post office and let them figure it out. There's no shame, most people under 40 have never mailed out anything that didnt come with a prepaid envelope and the post office employees are used to these questions.
>>133108858
Good idea, better than me fucking up and accidentally grinching my /ss/.
Is there a specific size for cards? I'm making them myself
>>133108119
>Postage (US)
If it is under:
1 ounce $0.42
2 ounces $0.59
3 ounces $0.76
3.5 ounces$0.93
Got doubts? Let the post office weigh them! Just try not to do it closer to the holidays as the post office becomes a zoo in the final weeks...
>>133108958
You can go as big as you want, usual card size is an 8 1/2 X 11 paper folded in half, but other anons have done full page size cards and glued them together. Depends on the size of what you want to put in the card.

I bought some pencil crayons which were 20 bucks, along with a pack of blank cards/envelopes, and a fuckton of cardstock because I overestimated how much I'd fuck up.
>>133110795
>pencil crayons
>20 bucks
I hope those are decent quality pencil crayons because that sounds like highway robbery.
>>133110832
Granted, I am Canadian so 20 CAD is 15 USD, and they seem relatively good quality.

Please tell me these are not Prismacolors.

There are good colored pencils: Faber Castell, Caran D'Ache, Derwent...
>>133110948
They were "Artists Loft".
I'm bad at staying under budget.
I'm in the $100-$150 bracket but ended up getting my anon almost $200 worth of stuff

I just spent an hour making a card front from the card stock I got, in the style of those minimalist vectors.
It turned out pretty good, all things considered!

>Front desk is closed in my building so I can't get the parcel
It's just one waiting game after another with /ss/, isn't it?
As an aside, how do you guys ship your gifts? I 'm wary about shipping a wrapped box so I'm thinking of wrapping each thing individually and putting them in a larger box together. On that note where the fuck do I buy boxes
>>133112242
I wrap my gifts and then buy packaging boxes at the post office to put them in. You can get boxes from craft stores or even generic retail stores, depending on how fancy you want it.
>>133112242
If nothing is fragile I'd just put everything into one box and wrap it. Then I guess you could put that into a slightly larger box if you want.
>>133112242
you could buy boxes in the your local post office or maybe Staples? assuming you're living in the US
>>133112242
Dont forget to fill the box with cum tissues. Those gifts should be protected.
>>133112242
Office supply store is your best bet for shipping boxes. Can also be obtained at places like The U.P.S store and some FedEx offices.
>>133112242
>his house isn't buried under Mandarake boxes and bubblewrap that is perfectly recyclable
Reusing masses of stuffing paper and airbags is a great way to stop the gifts jiggling about on their journey and potentially tearing on the edges.
I would post cropped screenshots of my WIP cards, but then again for all I know they may be lurking these threads right now.I hope that I won't give myself away in the designs.
My card /ss/ didn't specify "no lewd" so it's safe to assume that I can make it lewd right?
>>133114006
Naturally.
>>133114006
Go ahead, unless they are canadian. Lewd images of under aged characters are illegal.
>>133114854
Did you mean the opposite?
>>133114998
Opposite of what? Lewd loli is illegal in canada. And I wouldn't put it past the government to include any under aged character under loli.
>>133115057
Sorry, I misread your sentence. I thought you were saying "unless they're Canadian it's illegal.

They're saying we gonna be icy as fuck in time for Christmas. Last year was really mild so maybe it's trying to make up for it.
>>133117016
>icy as fuck
That's the worst part of winter if you drive. Getting through snowstorms to deliver /ss/ gifts or freezing in the frigid temperatures is bearable but as soon as your car starts spinning out on the roads, even with winter tires, that's when things have gone bad.
>>133115412
>Harem region
How awful
>>133117101
We don't even have winter tyres down here, it's going to be fun watching the news go crazy. In the end 'icy as fuck' for us is going to look like a blanket of slush to everyone else, but it makes us no more prepared for it. I travel by train so driving won't be a problem, but the overhead lines start sparking, and idiots leave the windows open in freezing wind.
Actually, maybe I should be careful to beat the mail deadline early this year. If they claim the vans are held up by weather it'll take god knows how long.
>>133117591
you should send it out well before the deadline anyway, you never know what could happen.
>>133117591
I'm going to try and send mine out by late nov. Better 2 weeks early rather than 1 week late.
>>133117591
Definitely send your stuff as soon as possible. From the previous times, I've seen people receiving stuff extremely late, even after January. While that's probably more due to issues with the address/information than the delivery service itself, it's better to send it earlier so you can rectify any issues sooner.
Just make sure to leave a note telling your /ss/ not to open it before Christmas if it arrives early.
One of my card anons asked for "the gayest thing I can think of", so I'm thinking of including a small mirror.
Who else spends Christmas entirely alone?
>>133118282
honestly, I wish I could. I'd rather be alone than with some of my family.
>>133118282
I don't care for some of my relatives so I'll just be with my immediate family.
>>133104186
You say that like it's a bad thing. Spending Christmas with /a/ is way better than being with family.
