It's not as bad as people say. Those who watched it while it aired hated it because they were butthurt about Free! and because they expected a shounen-like action show, but it's not. It's good if you aren't the kind that thinks a show has plotholes just because you don't read into the hints and wait for the reveal.
Watch it, but keep in mind that it's more of a romance-drama set in a fantasy world than an action show. It also has some SoL moments and likes to break the tension when things are getting serious, so expect it to be like that.

You guys seriously need to learn to rate a show based on what it was, not what you wanted it to be.
Tamako Market is a good SoL and is very charming and heartwarming, and that's what it tried to be. If you wanted it to be a drama or a romance then too bad but that's not what the show is, so if you're rating it based on the drama or romance, you're stupid and objectively wrong.
Same goes for KnK, it's a show about bonds and two monsters that sympathize with each other, but if you want it to be about an incredible assassin with super cool powers well that sucks for you.
Same for Hyouka and people who wanted Holmes-like mystery, or K-on and people who wanted a show about a band, etc.
If I take a decent show like, say, Planetes, and say it's shit because I wanted a show about astronauts that engage in battles with aliens or something, then of course I'm in the wrong because that's not the kind of show that Planetes is or tries to be.
