Why do Anime/Anime enthusiasts pronounce "desu" with as (DE-SU) or (DAY-SUE)? 99.9% of Japanese dialects pronounce it des, I've never seen any non anime media say anything other than des, its pronounced des. Why does only anime do this?
>>
its a joke anon

It's a way to sound out how a word sounds.

Say you figured out a cool word in another language. Like Home. If you haven't heard how it sounds, then you may end up saying, 'homu' or 'hum' instead of 'hum'

Anime tends to have a very, very over-exaggerated, unorthodox way of speaking (mainly in bad anime's, better ones tend not to do this) but this essentially results in weebs who don't know shit about the language being taught that pronouncing the hard u at the end of a sentence and massively overstretching the last syllable on words like kawaii is a normal way of speaking.

It is somewhat baffling how little Anime enthusiasts know about the language. Its not like desu is a cutsie word used by females/adorable things. It's one of if not the most common words in the entire language. Its the equivalent of the English "the, that, it". I wonder why people get so attached to that word...

Its doesn't remotely resemble a verb. It can't be conjugated, it does not describe a state of being, it cannot have an adverb before it, it doesn't indicate an action. Its not even in the same ballpark as a verb. It links the subject with the verb. Without it, the subject of the sentence is not implied. Its the reason Watashi is not that common, the "I" or "it" is implied by desu. Its not a fucking verb.

Some dialects will pronounce the u if they are being VERY feminine. Its uncommon, like the guy above said, Anime tends to over-exaggerate.

You can conjugate it. It is somewhat similar to a verb, its a copula. It doesn't work the same as english, stop comparing it to that.

It is a type of verb, god people fucking suck at Japanese. You should see the daily Japanese thread the goes around here, its embarrassing. It does have conjurations, no it does not act the same as a normal verb, but it is still a form of verb. Jesus.

No they pronounce it as desu. Even though it sounds like des it doesn't change the fact that is still pronounced as desu. It's saying it's pronounce "nuckles".
