Because fans watch Detective Conan on TV, thus its TV ratings are high. As for watching streaming versions on tablets and phones, One Piece is beats Detective Conan by far. Ironically, on a time slot versus time slot basis when they go head to head, Detective Conan wins quite a lot of the time. This doesn't mean Conan is more popular than OP. It just means that most viewers watch it on TV and not streaming. If you total up all of OP's more numerous timeslots and streaming, it is more popular than Conan in terms of total viewer count.

Occasionally, Conan travels to other parts of Japan and you might see certain landmarks depicted as well.
I also like "okoge" and even try to make it (with as little rice as possible). I didn't know the name for it until I saw that mentioned on Conan. Okoge with butter is great. Picture related.
