Yeah, I guess I missed out on that. All I remember is ridiculously long but strangely polite religious debates during the early episodes, then interest seemed to wane a bit around the mid-season mark because the threads weren't appearing particularly promptly on Sundays.

That might be the case, towards the end Cernunnos says something like "you only had to believe in yourself" or some bullshit. Which sounds pretty dumb until you consider that the show has been building a direct connection from belief/faith to magical power.
