I really tried to like KnK, but somehow it doesn't connect with me. It has plenty of things I'd usually like, decent visuals, supernatural battles within a secret society, cute girls and I dunno, that's it. I find the characters and general story so utterly devoid of charm. They somehow didn't manage to make me interested in the main characters and their plight. The whole setup and how the characters are portrayed don't manage to make me care about those. It's just sort of there.

Maybe more of that and fleshing out the world/lore and less cute highschool antics would have helped. Kyoani can do cutesy SoL antics well enough, but I've come to the point where it comes across as "been there done that", whenever those scenes turn up, so they end up feeling like wasted screentime. Also, the SoL highschool banter is only interesting to me, after I came to care about a cast and what they're trying to do.
