Sayaka and Kyouko get turned into plot devices so that they can meet their demise as the plot demands it, and Homura is way too incompetent - she arrives at every single witch later than everyone else, when she's supposed to be the one fighting the hardest with what we get to know later.
Plus, as I said before these episodes purpose in the story is to provide the build up for the main conflict, and they move at a glacial pace after episode 4.

She's become rather used to death, rather she's thought Mami would have died long ago before that point. Kyouko herself had embraced death at one point when she seperated from Mami when her parents died, but she just kept going day by day, and eventually found the will to survive again. Even if she had to become a bad girl, she lived on.
Only time she cared about Mami living was when they were able to bridge the gap again a bit, and Kyouko found some forgiveness for herself as it started to set right again.

Is /a/ aware of how bad the end to madoka was? I know that it was foreshadowed, but it totally contradicted with the theme of the show. Everyone who made a wish got fucked, where the bigger the wish the more fucked they got, but when madoka goes ahead and CHANGES THE LAWS OF THE UNIVERSE she just shoots away all the bad stuff with an arrow. Half of the negative parts of it were killed by the wordings of Madoka's own wish, since she wished to be able to destroy all witches without fail. None of the witches want to kill others. Madoka didn't become witches in that scene, they just were like "Fuck it, may as well become this thing". Witches killing humans is usually unintentional, while they're wrapped up in their own shit usually. A fraction of what they used to be, now they're forever enveloped in their own delusions, without logic or reason.

She didn't really see anything, that's half the point. A witch isn't in control anything, it's just a soul that's gone rabid and lost all reason or control.
That's the reason they couldn't save Sayaka there or bring her back to her senses like they thought. Her soul had just lost all reason and become a force without any intelligence of a certain sort backing it up anymore. Now it's little more than a monster that can only hurt others, even if unintentionally.
That's how witches work; the are the souls of magical girls that have lost all control/reason and gone berserk. A witch summoned while the magical girl is still alive, like we see in the movie, that's a soul being used while intelligence and reason are still in command, so it's not Berserk. At that point it's basically a Stand.
Witches are never evil though, they're just souls that have gone Berserk. You think they're still reasonable and intelligent beings at all, you're rationalizing why it saw this like this and how it saw that like that, for why it attacked them there, that's not how it works. It had already run out of reason in every form.
Only reason that Homura's witch still had some reason underneath it all in the movie is because she didn't really witch out in a sense, they were still within her soul gem. They were just in her pseudo world of the mind, she tried to abandon all reason to kill herself, but she had not actually witches out. In the real world she's stuck in time inbetween being a witch and not being a witch still.
Witches don't need reasons for why they do this, how they do this, they saw this person as a betrayer, they didn't trust this person. You're rationalizing like they're still people, but that's the reason why they couldn't save her by talking through it at the end there. Because it was just a soul gone berserk, there was no sense left to that beast.

This most likely meant Sayaka wanted to express her feelings but she could not because of her broken state. As seen before her transformation to be a witch, she had issues speaking to Kyouko. With her life reaching its end, she could not help herself in the situation.
