I just love creative things with music in general. Most music is just sort of background, but if you get creative with it and give every character a theme and have constant reprises and leitmotifs it can really help tie a show together. Music is a vital port of a show and it needs consistent and intelligent direction just as much as the visuals or story do.
Music can do a lot more than just match what's going on if it's used correctly.
Mechs. I've seen every fucking mech show on the face of the Earth and still love them.
On another note, it always pisses me off when mechs don't walk. The entire point is that they're humanoid, so it's stupid to just turn them into fighter jets that have legs for some reason. They can fly short distances, but if they never use their legs it pisses me off to an irrational degree.
