The Counts give no fucks as long as they don't have their Aldnoah access taken away. Slaine as far as they know controls Aldnoah through Asseylum, and they don't particularly like the Emperor either. Vers is in the war specifically because it's on the verge of collapse already. The three counts sent to spearhead Slaine's mission to take control of Earth once and for all being annihilated simultaneously might put a damper on Slaine's dream of a "unified front". I could easily see an opposing front forming if word gets out that he just imprisoned the princess and her sister that he had been parading around as their princess.

Honestly, I see death as the only fitting ending for grandpa and hime. Grandpa built an oppressive system while hime's ignorance and naivety will more likely maintain that system. The theme of Aldnoah as a whole is that the royal family have been nothing but borderline-useless figureheads for the entire series. To Earth she's just a tool, to the Knights those actually loyal are a small minority, the rest just appeal to them because divine Aldnoah powers while being largely independent.
Asseylum's entire family is basically the equivalent to the Imperial Family in Japanese Feudal/Chinese Han dynasty; They never accomplished anything noteworthy on their own and for the most part were just a status symbol for the largest prevailing faction to wave around for influence. This is reflected in Slaine being seen as the de-facto leader of Vers and the Knights after marrying Asseylum, despite her technically being the one who controls Aldnoah.

The only one that was a leader was Gilzeria, he's someone the Knights respected. Slaine has taken on a role similar to him in that he leads while fighting beside them. These guys don't respect someone who sits on a throne and orders them around while not getting their hands dirty too.
