What exactly is the deal with Shirou's body becoming swords? I thought it had something to do with Avalon, and just how the pieces of the sheath heal him. Or is it Archer's Unlimited Blade Works somehow turning on him?
>>
He's sealing up damage and torn muscles with blades because his projection is interfering with the natural healing effects of Avalon.

Hijacking this thread because fuck it, the other one archived.

The two scenes we can confirm right now are Rin and Archer talking about reality marbles, which was cut from the broadcast version of episode 0, and this from episode 2.

The Saber content we can confirm is with the Gardens of Avalon book, but so far, nothing with the new animation.

>>121916156
Zero? I don't think it is. Compare the first 13 episodes between the two and the pacing is basically the same overall.

UBW starts off with more of a bang, but lulls a bit in the middle, while Zero takes several episodes to get going, but picks up. That being said Zero doesn't constantly build up its pacing; may I remind you of the loli Rin episode?
>>
>>121916156
Because you're not watching it but just shitposting about it on /a/
>>
>>121916220
What's interesting about UBW is I think the pacing makes perfect sense if you treat most of the episodes as if they were meant to be an hour long, just like 0 and 1. Structure-wise, most of the episodes work with one building up to action, while the other is the pay off.
>>
>>121916156
Zero's first season was just as slow and boring, if not worse. Not even marathoning it helped.

Did you read the VN first?

I mean like, most of those early episodes were just retreading stuff that already got covered in there. That whole first hour long episode was basically filled with reworded infodumps from the game.
>>
>>121916474
Well the whole series is stuff that got covered in the VN
so what's your point?
>>
>>121916220
Are you to suggest that /a/ wasn't gripped in the deepest throes of suspense during loli Rin episode?
Pretty sure /a/ thinks that's the climax. Everything following is dénouement.

I liked how they showed all Tokiomi's old shit in the first episode of the new UBW. His magic fax machine and silly phone, made you remember Zero.
>>
>>121916474
I found the characters and dialogue really compelling compared to F/SN.
I think my issue is that I consumed all of this within a week and I'm a little tired of it all.
>>
>>121916540
You find new stuff more interesting than old stuff. You watch a show that explains all the technicalities of magic and it's pretty enthralling, when really it's basically just catching you up on stuff from the source material.

>>121916563
Watching the entirety of Zero in one go can skew you on stuff. It's harder to remember the slower stuff when the more memorable bits strike out for you.

Right now, you're comparing a completed story, to a story that's half done. Both FSN and Zero weren't paced like a weekly manga, where they have to hook you to read the next chapter, they're completed stories that build their overall narrative as they go on. The one disadvantage UBW has right now is that viewers can only see half of it.
>>
>>121916668
the disadvantage is that viewers have spoiled themselves with Zero shit and now won't enjoy Stay Night the same way

Rin is best girl.

Why is she wearing her ribbons while bathing?
>>

she's also wearing socks.

And the answer is because it makes her hot as fuck
>>
>>121916735
I find UBW as a story more compelling than Zero, it's just different. Zero is closer to a more standard battle royale, while UBW is basically all about Shirou and his inner struggles. The problem is right now they're just getting to the good part with that struggle.

He's in his lowest place, he's got no servant, and everything seems to be falling apart, but now he has to pick the pieces back together and move forward.

Gen is a hack, interesting ideas but he's piss poor at executing them however I enjoyed Zero despite hating everything Type Moon that isn't Tsukihime or Kara no Kyoukai, Zero had its moments and was alright as a prequel since it had source material to go on which Gen did wonders with the adaptation. I'd say it's decent, not great or spectacular as everyone claims but it's certainly not terrible either.

As for being mediocre Fate/Zero is just the same Gen Urobuchi drivel using the same themes of despair he always does in all of his work to make them seem less vapid than they actually are, I wonder if he legitimately believes he's creating a work of art or not, I'm really confused on that one. He reminds me way too much of Christopher Nolan and his pseudo intellectualism.

Hackson had to bend the knee to his overlords and edit the original two films into three to ensure Warner Bros. would have tent poles for several years.

The Hobbit: Tolkein Edit

As per tolkieneditor's site, some of the biggest cuts (two of which you can see as vids in this post) include:

The investigation of Dol Guldor has been completely excised

The Tauriel-Legolas-Kili love triangle has also been removed.

The Pale Orc subplot is vastly trimmed down.

Several of the Laketown scenes have been cut, such as Bard's imprisonment and the superfluous orc raid.

The prelude with old Bilbo is gone.

Several of the orc skirmishes have been cut.

Several of the action scenes have been tightened up, such as the barrel-ride, the fight between Smaug and the dwarves (no molten gold in this version), and the Battle of the Five Armies.

A lot of filler scenes have been cut as well.

Avalon made Shirou's reality marble sword based. Shirou always had the potential for creating a RM, but with no infinity, but thanks to the great fire and Avalon together made UBW. Now there are serval moments Shirou lost Avalon's full power healing abilities due to the fact he lost connection to Saber you need to be Sabers master to gain it's full effects. Now here it gets interesting since Shirou lost Avalon his RM tries to fill the void by healing Shirou's body by creating swords over the massive wounds.
>>
>>121917458
Literally the only good part of the movies and it shouldn't have been there.

WHY?
>>
>>121917498
>Now here it gets interesting since Shirou lost Avalon his RM tries to fill the void by healing Shirou's body by creating swords over the massive wounds.

This actually works as healing. The swords knit themselves together, then slowly transmogrify back to muscles over time. It's a very patchwork job, but it seals big wounds well.

The sword virus in HF, however, was Archer's UBW recognizing Shirou's entire body as a wound.

It's not the go to option of healing when it comes to fights, but I do agree it heal the wounds over time unlike Avalon which will recover your wounds in a flash or at the least much faster pace than his RM.
I'm pretty sure Archer's arm has a fragment or large portion of his RM which is inflicting with Shirou's RM which cases the rejection to happen.
>>
>>121918166

How can you read it in Rin's voice when she can't speak English?
>>
>>121916796
>Why is she wearing her ribbons while bathing?

Isn't there something in the Nasuverse about how a female magus' hair holds a lot of magic, and a large number of them tie their hair off with ribbons for some reason regarding this?

I always thought it was a stupid thing that was mostly forgotten but then Touko gave up twenty years worth of hair to contract with Lugh in Mahoyo.

When I read subs, I dont read them aloud in my head, I just absorb the meaning and assign that to the jumble of nonsense and the few Japanese words I know that I'm hearing. When I'm reading a book, I read everything in my own voice, yet somehow all the characters sound different. Its strange.

Independent Action stronk.
To his credit, he does also survive 6 rounds against Berserker in Fate, and having his spiritual core cracked in HF, so it isn't too much as an asspull.
>>
>>121922901
Shirou beat Archer in a mental fight. His drive and passion for his ideal started to make him second guess his actions, and ultimately, he, through Shirou, learned that his life, his ideal, and everything he went through wasn't a mistake. It's a twist since throughout the whole story it was Archer acting like it was Shirou who needed to rethink himself, but he was the one who changed.

You have to remember that Archer could have killed Shirou countless times, but didn't, because he wanted to break the kid. He wanted to see his ideals crushed, but Shirou never backed down; his relentless pursuit reignited Archer, and by the end, he had no reason to kill Shirou anymore, because he was right.
>>
>>121922941
What makes him realize his fight is pointless ? If I recall it well he became a guardian just for the sake of killing his younger self
>>
>>121923152
I guess that makes more sense now, thanks
>>
>>121923179
No, he became a guardian to save people in a specific situation in his life. He thought it was a good deal, because it meant he'd get to help people even after he died. He wasn't explained the details though, and that led to him living through countless scenarios of him having to kill for the "greater good", but never actually seeing the good he brings about. It was basically his own personal hell.

This made him grow bitter and look back on his life like it was full of mistakes, but Shirou convinces him otherwise. It's not wrong to want to help people, it's not wrong to try and save others; the guy made one huge mistake, which was becoming a Counter Guardian, but with the knowledge has now, Shirou likely wouldn't make the deal, so there was no real reason to kill him anymore.
>>
>>121923179
Wrong. He became a guardian because he thought it meant he'd be able to save even more people...

... Only to regret it very much, as being a guardian wasn't anything like he had hoped.
>>
>>121923281
No problem, a lot of people have questions about the fight because there's a whole lot going on in it. It's probably one of the easiest things to get confused about in the novel.

Wut? Which Sabers have IA? Or Riders other than Medusa for that matter?

Looks more like a mixture of Shirou's and Archer's UBW. Starts out looking like Shirou, but instead of the red sky there's Archer's gears and bleak grayness.

It doesn't really look bleak or anything. It's just a giant horizontal pillar of gears that extends off into the distance. It fits with the whole iron forging theme of it.

UBW changes with the mentality of Shirou, the one we see in UBW route is the UBW of a determined albeit still naive 18 year old Shirou. In LE we have a veteran Shirou, his maturity probably reflects in the RM.

LE Shirou has absolutly nothing to do with UBW Shirou

UBW Shirou is the only Shirou to have used UBW, which is why I used him as a reference point.
