Yes, you "watch" them all thee same, as in they are something you sit down and watch. But, TV series and theatrical films are leagues apart in terms of intent and artistry.
TV series' are designed to bring you back week after week with either a serialized narrative (usually with cliffhangers), interesting characters, or the promise of something new every time (episodic shows).
A film is meant to be seen in theaters first and foremost, and everything about it is usually designed around that unique viewing situation. From the self-contained story to the (usual) abundance of visual art with greater attention to detail.
Even though they're both anime, they are 2 very different forms of entertainment, and if you haven't seen enough of either to make seperate 3x3s, then you probably shouldn't be posting on /a/.

Just think about the first two Madoka movies, they've exactly copy-pasted the episodes of the tv show, the direction is the SAME. You want another example? Psycho-pass movie most recently.
You can compare things with the same art direction. Are you convinced or you have to pull on end episode cliffhangers and backgrounds (they're made the same way for both tv and movies) to prove your point?

You're asking me the definition of 3x3. That's not something I really can provide you. All I can tell you is my personal experience. I prefer Bakemonogatari over Akira because I liked the story better, I liked the director's PowerPoint skills, and thus I can choose to put it in my grid just because I like it that way. There's no real criticism, you don't evaluate an anime just by the monetary value provided for its creation. It's purely personal criticism.
