I can't speak for the anime, but I've read the manga prior to the announcement of the anime. It started off a bit weak, but then it changed from solving problems from the "Medaka Box" to typical shounen puzzle fighting, and it was pretty good for awhile there. Eventually it got shitty and I just had to drop it. I think it started jumping the shark for me with the Minus arc. I finished the arc and couldn't bring myself to read much further.
