If you're referring to Ahiru, the entire story is leading up to her realizing she doesn't love the Prince but another guy. Since she is not a part of the story, she has the ability to choose who she gets together with by her actions. And she chose Fakir instead of Mute. You have to be a special kind of stupid not to recognize this.
The show also gave her the typical Mute ending in the first season. The entire second season is about her realizing its not what she wants. In this way, the show has two endings.

And you clearly aren't familiar with ballet or opera themes. Since most of them have a bittersweet or even sad ending. This show was directly mirroring Swan Princess and The Nutcracker. And unlike in those ballets, Ahiru still gets together with her love. Even if she is a duck. Which she never was a real human to begin with. That's why her name is literally duck. Also, in a series where an anteater could romance a human, how is being a duck so sad? Not to mention the fact that Fakir can rewrite the story and fix their problem.

FMP is an example of a girl who is 100% Tsun all the time. Never shows off her dere side except for a handful of private scenes away from the MC.
A Tsundere done right would be Lina Inverse or Tiaga. Since they actually show off their Dere side through character development and admit their feelings over time. This bitch in FMP is just plain Tsun. She probably would have become Dere at the end of the show. But it ended before then. And even then, it wouldn't excuse 4+ seasons of her being a bitch.

Compared to generic Tsundere and idiotic MC? Yes. But compared to most other characters in other series, she's still painfully generic.
Its also her fault for not actively trying to be with the MC. As Minori proved, a guy might like you. But it takes two to form a relationship. And if both parties don't actively admit their feelings...it goes nowhere. Allowing the overly outgoing Tsundere to swoop in and steal the guy.
If you want a love story, you shouldn't be watching anime.
There are no good love story based anime, there are only romantic comedies. A love story would imply the MC and X got together, and actually managed to express feelings.
