I actually thought about it before, weight lifting is a great subject for anime.
But making ALL the characters some muscle girl caricatures is a shitty idea, things like that just reinforce the notion that anyone who picks up a barbell will accidentally a Coleman.
A slice of life anime revolving around a bunch of girls training at the same gym for different reasons would be great - you could have a regular girl wanting to lose some weight, a powerlifter girl, Olympic weightlifter, one for every of the bodybuilding/bikini categories, a martial artist training her body, tsundere calisthenics girl who makes fun of all the lifters but secretly wants to be friends with them so they can teach her how to squat, and so on.
