What manga are you typesetting/translating/ripping?

Have time to help?

Need help on anything related to scanlation or want to request scanlation? Post here.

It'd be nice if Ib -Instant Bullet- could have its pace picked up.
It's 9 chapters behind the raws, and no one scans the raws either. I want more doses of fake edgy.

Has anyone figured out how to rip from bookwalker?

There a firefox addon that worked.
Try to search it on archive.

Anyone want to work on Daigo Umehara the manga?
>>
>>120409690
>There a firefox addon that worked.
From Bookwalker? Bookwalker is an app installed on your phone or PC. The most they keep on their site are short previews. How would a Firefox addon rip Bookwalker stuff?
>>
I'm really interested in the scanlation scene, is there any like..documentary or reading about it?

That is amazing, thank you so much.
>>
>>120409812
It only goes up to 2010 though so it doesn't cover the rise of topaz spam, the chink scene never learning how to use it properly and affiliated English groups like RH being almost as shit at using it as them.
>>
>>120409642
That would require time and effort. As far as I can tell, it's not trivial and I see no immediate method of doing so.
>>

>Daigo Umehara the manga

Weird topic.
>>
>>120409842
>As far as I can tell, it's not trivial and I see no immediate method of doing so.
Well, someone into coding just has to figure out where Bookwalker keeps the file on your computer (or download it somewhere if it doesn't), decrypt the file so it doesn't need the stupid bookwalker app, and extract it.

The problem is most English coders don't into Japanese and not many coders give a shit about giving LNs they paid for to the barely 40 people who would care for free.
>>
>>120409729
Ah,i have misread it. thought it is comicwalker. Most you can do is screencap from the windows application.

>>120409933
There's more than LNs in bookwalker.
>>
>>120410018
>There's more than LNs in bookwalker.
To make a good point. Why is that I mostly only see LN screencaps from Bookwalker and hardly ever manga ones?
I download basically everything that comes out, so I should know.
>>
>>
>>120409933
It's not really the coding that is the problem. I don't think you understand the complexity of what is involved here. Finding the file is easy. But how are you supposed to decrypt the file if you don't know how it was encrypted? At worst, you need to be able to sift through masses of assembly or byte code. There may be even worse alternatives.
>>
>>120409969
>Most you can do is screencap from the windows application.
Is there an easier way to screenshot the shit? As far as I know, you can screenshot something bigger than your monitor, and to get a good resolution, you'd have to do multiple screenshots and piece them together.
>>
>>120409642
>>120409842
Chinks have it figured out. I can't help you though.
>>
>>120410610
God damn greedy chinks at it again.
>>
>>120410610
If there's anything they have, it's lots of people and time to waste.
>>
>>120410396
Decrypting is easy if you have the key. I don't know how to find the damn thing though.
>>
Funny thing about bookwalker, it seems to disable print screen. I had to use puush for >>120410018
>>
>>120410747
How does it use the key? Decryption isn't really interesting at all without the key, I don't know in what way that it is easy if you don't have it.
>>
>>120410776
You can use most screenshot applications. The problem is let's say there's a spread you want to cap at 5000x3500 or whatever, odds are you monitor isn't that resolution, so you can't screencap at full res.

Which means you get to play a puzzle minigame of piecing the shit together.
>>
>>120410829
>Which means you get to play a puzzle minigame of piecing the shit together.
Yeah but I'm pretty sure that would take a lot less than the time I spend redrawing spreads together.
>>
Does anyone of you know where to download the World trigger volume 5 and 6. In my Country using torrent would get me fucked so i Need aoneclickhoster I found the raws but the had manga-Zip watermarks
>>
>>120410574
Try to downsample your resolution and use stuff like greenshot.

>>120410776
Windows version blocked it?
>>
>>120410882
Yes.
>>
>>120410882
>Try to downsample your resolution and use stuff like greenshot.
I tried searching for something like downsampling before but didn't know of the proper technical term, so I couldn't figure it out. I'll have to toy with it at some point.

That said, I'm always afraid to do shit like that. As in if my computer for whatever reason, despite reassurances, will not like me upping the resolution to all hell and will lock up every time it loads.
>>
>>120410882
Someone i just found this:
https://github.com/bebound/scripts

A python scripts to download bookwalker cover, might be useful if for some wizard.
>>
>>120411248
The cover? Bookwalker hosts covers and several sample images for the vast majority of their content. Which you can downloads normally without any hoop bullshit with any browser.
I can't imagine it being of any use for the app.
>>
Is there a good ADF scanner or do you need to use a flatbed for the ultimate quality?
>>
>>120413456
10th Mystery used an ADF scanner that was like $4000 that was pretty good, if I recall.
Or if you want to spend more time and less money, a $60 flatbed will do just as well quality-wise.
>>
>>120413757
>$4k adf scanner

Holy fuck I wish I had that kind of money.

I've been using my $120 flatbed for four years and it's been fantastic.

Any guides about cloning?

I know the basics, but any tips would suffice.
>>
Where do I find cleaners/redrawers, I desperately need one.
>>
>>120414551
Depends what you're cloning. Just make sure gradients line up because that shit is OCD as fuck.

>>120414585
Cleaners and redrawers are very different things.

>>120414690
Let's say redrawers then.

>>120414720
I'm working on Wakako-zake, it's not exactly hard and the chapters are extremely short (most are 4 pages long) but goddamn I can't be bothered to clean all that text over the backgrounds.
>>
>>120414907
Lazy redrawing.

Typeset first, put on a stroke, then clean anything that's showing through.

Saves you a buttload of time, but restricts your text placement.
>>
>>120415014
>put on a stroke, then clean anything that's showing
Trust this anon. This is really the easy way if you work with layers
>>
>>120415078
>not working with layers

Who the fuck doesn't work with layers? Any idiot can pirate Photoshop and learn to use it

I'm always so surprised when I see shitty left-aligned comic sans MS Paint scanlations. Who the fuck thought they were good ideas?
>>
>>120415014
>>120415078
Yeah, that's what I do usually but I'm pretty much a one-man group except for translating and QC so I burn out pretty easily when I do stuff I don't like, and I hate doing that.
>>
>>120415112
>Who the fuck doesn't work with layers?
I don't know man, but we are on /a/ that's why I wrote that. Autist are everywhere.

Does anyone know a good page to download Volume Raws? All those I use(d) have dead links everywhere.

Some new Shonens. I would like to get my hands on the Nanatsu no Taizai, Assclass and so on volume raws.
>>
>>120415892
Have you tried using Perfect Dark / the usual 2ch fileshares? I got some stuff that way before.
>>
>>120415892
manga-zone
haruka-yumenoato
shobon-next

Or just use google. Files are hosted on slow hosts but at least they're alive. From what I've seen many new raws are terrible digital garbage though.
