You need to re-watch the show. Kojou is always the one who deals the winning/killing blow except for one time due to the situation being against him. Yukina assists him in battle and is there to ensure he doesn't go out of control, which she does a pretty good job at. She says her catchphrase as a follow-up to Kojou's catchphrase, so she never steals his thunder or anything. The execution in which she carries it out is done by blocking or attacking as a means to defend Kojou from an attack or to create an opening for him. Kojou is OP'd, but there are times when he does require some help, and it's usually Yukina who fills that role because of her spear that is hax in its own right.

What actually happened during the fight was that teacher chick slashed her legs, along with breaking a few ribs and the arm of the mc (or something to that effect), combined with him using his special move like, 2x more than he was supposed to.
They basically skipped the entire week of the preparations for the battle, and a good portion of the battle itself to wrap it all up in one episode.
