They found out that you'd not like it.

Because they needed to pad the season to leave Disappearance for the movie.

a time loop 8 fucking times exactly the same

It's not shit, it's just suffering. The purest suffering. It's a huge mentally-demanding activity that helps you appreciate Disappearance to its utmost cause you can actually walk a bit in Yuuki's shoes.

The homework solution might seem a bit silly but it's more like Haruhi wanted them to do something instead on their own of following her like lazy bums.

If they can get her to remind them early on in a loop, and also to tell them what they've tried to do before to break out of the loop, the whole thing might have been solved many thousands of loops earlier.
>>

You're forgetting EE was originally one chapter, and it only covered the final instance. KyoAni wasn't into going too off source with adaptions.
>>
>>119709626
She probably wouldn't have listened. And the reason they didn't escape the loop was because they were lazy shits, if they actually tried they might have solved it pretty quickly.

Honestly, it's not that bad when you actually make a serious attempt. All the scenes have new animation, and it looks REALLY good. There's also more you remember each time. By the end you're basically reciting the episode in your head as it plays and can really notice the differences.

Just play that shit in the background and go on /a/ or something if you get REALLY bored.

I don't get this "greed" response this always gets. They didn't just show the same episode eight times, they animated each episode, and the voice actors did all of the lines multiple times.

The idea was probably something like "Yeah, that was fucking annoying and painful, right? Now you have a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of one iota on how Nagato Yuki felt."

Honestly, this is probably why the movie happened at all in the first place.
>>

If EE was one episode, they would probably try and cram Disappearance in S2. And that might have led to less success and possibly even no movie.

Hypothetically speaking, if one were to watch endless 8 in a loop, how long would it take to watch 15498 episodes?

I've been doing this, I made it my life's mission 4 years ago.

Not continuously obviously, that would be impossible but I try to marathon it at least once every day, sometimes twice or even three times if I have nothing else to do.

I am currently up to rotation 1842, am watching 1843, 1844 and 1845 tomorrow since I have the day off.
>>
>>119714336
For reference BTW that is 14736 episodes of EE that I have watched.

I'm almost there.
>>
>>119714336
>>119714390
Have you made a log or record of it that you can post once you're finished?
>>
>>119714336
What a colossal waste of time. I'm willing to bet that you can probably recite the entire episode from memory.
>>

>>
>>119714336

>>
>>119714336
Bullshit.
>>
>>119714475
Unfortunately no, I'm not doing this to prove anything to anyone, I'm just doing it because I want to so I didn't feel the need to record anything.

Also I couldn't really think of any kind of log I could create that would actually prove jack shit about me watching it to begin with. It would just be a lame piece of evidence that many people would rightly claim could have easily been forged.

>>119714558
Of course I can, I watched all 8 variants of it earlier today for the 1842nd time.

>>119714602
Well I have nothing better to fill the time, I do my Uni work, my part time job, my vidya and watch normal anime as well, I usually just cram the 8 episodes in at the end of the day. Though sometimes I have to miss a couple of days because of events and such so I make it up on the weekends.
>>
>>119714633
It isn't as hard as you would think, if you watch all 8 episodes back to back it's only about 3 and a half hours (including bathroom breaks and interruptions). Most of the time I just watch it in bed at the end of the day from like 8-8:30PM to around 11:30-midnight.
>>
>>119714683
I love you
>>
>>119714827
Shouldn't you be watching an episode 15,498 times and not watching the full thing that many times? And alternate episodes.
>>
>>119715323
Look buddy, as long as I watch enough episodes to cover every loop I don't see the problem. Also I have a slight thing about continuity when it comes to watching shows, I can't not watch them in order so I have to watch all 8, in order until I've watched it enough times. I would feel uncomfortable otherwise and as I have already stated I am doing this for me, not for anyone else.

Had I directed this bullshit, I'd have kept it to three episodes. Because at the end of the third, I'd already decided this was bullshit, and most people agree with me.

Don't bother with him, he's retarded.
>>
>>119711641
>they animated each episode, and the voice actors did all of the lines multiple times.
And this is where the retardation enters in. Despite the fact that each episode was completely different, our brains can process different material and still compress it into the same thing. If I say the same thing 8 times, you will remember me saying "one-thing x 8". Our brains compress information. So they did 8x the work for essentially twice the information. Absolutely retarded. If they'd recycled stuff, at least then you'd be able to say they got more work done elsewhere, made other episodes better, etc...

E8 literally makes me mad. Wasted effort on their part, I can skip the suffering so the point doesn't even stick, and they could have animated one of the other stories from the LNs.
>>
>>119717027
It was Kadokawa's idea, they gave KyoAni all the resources they needed.

You really can't hold her to human standards of conduct, though. I might have called Nagato a cold, emotionless robot at one point in time, but I'd never say that about her now.

Minor spoiler
Kuyou could turn into a very nice person one day, despite her sins.

**Mega spoiler warning**
Nagato stopped tugging on Shamisen, "She will not disappear. Currently she is enrolled in Kouyouen All-Girls Academy and will stay there as a student. Her main goal is to achieve autonomy for herself but that will take time."

I think she will become an ally of the SOS brigade, surpassing Nagato in human characteristics and decency.

I don't understand Nagato's scene at the beginning of Surprise, when she says she could've had social skills like Asakura. Is she regretting the fact she was created like that and can't develop like Asakura? Or is she saying she can become like her, which would be logical with what Asakura said ("Nagato isn't a mere terminal anymore")

Who knows? It could have been some vain attempt to communicate to Kyon her inner turmoil, or perhaps she was just going to see how many yukata/mask combinations were mathematically possible, desperately trying to keep herself entertained.
>>
>>119727625
>some vain attempt to communicate to Kyon her inner turmoil
She bought a mask on, what was as far as we know, the very first loop. So it was probably totally insignificant for her to buy one.

As to why she kept buying different ones, it's because it was a choice she makes. Obviously, she's not going to make the same choice every time.
>>
It was worse when it was airing. You could not imagine what it felt like watching an episode and then having to wait a week for the same shit again for 8 weeks thinking.. "surely, there can't be 8 weeks of this shit?" and as each week passed.. lo and behold. That is exactly what happened.
>>
>>119728028
The end of the e8 shitstorm spread across every board like a plague.

S3 won't come until they have a LN to promote.

Even if there's plenty of material left to adapt, those LN have already sold quite well, to the point more seasons wouldn't contribute that much to sales (sales already kinda saturated their target market).

Its not licensing, its not Aya Hirano shit (she's even doing some side-character Haruhi voice acting in the upcoming Disappearance of Nagato Yuki anime from another author).

Its plain sales of LN volumes. We need Tanigawa to shit at least another couple of volumes if we even want to see a S3.

I guess that it will be more of a parallel thing, S3 will get into work once Tanigawa confirms he has one LN coming up in a range close enough to the series.

I for one disliked E8 and think there was nothing artsy nor deep about it (I even disregard the whole 'put yourself in Yuki's position' thing).

The only good thing to come out of it was Disappearance becoming a movie on its own right, which was a very masterful work.

I keep watching it year by year only some days before Christmas.

When it came out, it was 2009~2010, so I was barely on 10th~11th grade. Now its 2015 and I'm in my last year of university, and every year I get more and more revolted with older Mikuru speech about how would you treasure in your mind the memories of the school years.

Even if I had kind of a rough time in school, I still appreciate a lot the time I spent there and what I shared with a few people, and the nostalgia of it strikes me awfully, and its been barely 4~5 years since I graduated from there.

Anyone who thinks Endless 8 was justified is an idiot.
At most, 4 episodes would have been acceptable.

All it accomplished was pandering to slice-of-life faggots who have no interest in things like plot progression.

I'm glad they were subdued in the end. The arc wouldn't have carried the weight that it did if it was less than 8 episodes.

This is also why watching only 2 or 3 episodes of E8 is silly. If you're going to skip it, just watch only the last episode.
>>
>>119736361
>empathize with her.
Yup, sure made me empathize by not watching the middle 4 episodes.
If anything, it made me more detached.

Art isn't brilliant when people find a way around it. The most brilliant art is meaningless if no one is there to see it. Likewise, the most brilliant art is something people simply cannot ignore. This causes it to have way more impact.

You can choose not to look at a painting or fall asleep in the middle part of a film too. Doesn't make it a bad film just because you choose not to experience it.

>no one is there to see it

Simply untrue.

>the most brilliant art is something people simply cannot ignore

Also untrue, considering that most people can't recognize art.

Your post comes off as desperate rationalizing against the viewpoint that E8 was meaningful. I recommend suicide.
>>
>>119736713
>The novelty and sheer audacity of Endless Eight will be remembered for a long time.
Yes. It has been established as a terrible idea that no right-minded person would pursue again. E8 did not need to happen to let us draw that conclusion, though.

Why do you believe yourself to be superior to others for happily enduring 8 mildly-permuted copies of the same episode? Autism does not make you a better person.
>>
>>119736773
Art that sits in a museum is fine. But it's hardly brilliant, hardly impactful. It has no effect on the outside world. Millions of people will never see it, and their lives will never change because of it. Only those who choose may have it affect them.

Meanwhile, something that people hardly have a choice in, something millions must see for whatever reason, is brilliant.

Most of what people call "art" is hardly intelligent at all when you are on my level.
