This was a weird anime, like it had K-ON amounts of moe mixed with Shinseki Yori finale-level feels. But there was one scene that really stuck with me.

>She falls into an underground ruin
>Comes across a dead soldier
>He died in an entirely different fucking era
>All the fighting, the war, none of it matters
That was the first wave, a critique on humanity, but then;

>She asks why he is sorry
>"Because we lost"
That was the second wave, regret and futility, and then;
>The corpse is standing at attention
>The dead soldier tells her the world ended long ago, she is just an echo
>She's trying to fight back tears
>He tells her she should just end it already
>She's crying, wailing
>There is no point living in a world of cruelty and despair
>A trumpet sounds off in the distance
>She looks up, the long dead soldier has returned to his eternal rest
