Remember, the old man in Ichigo's sword is Yhwach. So clearly, Yhwach is Ichigo's great grandfather and Ichigo has inherited his almighty God powers at 1/6th the normal strength. However, when it is combined with Uryu's Quincy powers after they team up to kill Yhwach he is able to manifest it 100% to have a 1V1 God fight with Yhwach.

He made them all immortal with the king's key, didn't he? Ooetsu looks fucking young despite that he predates the concept of the Zanpakuto.
The Royal Guard isn't guarding the Spirit King. They are guarding the culture of Soul Society. At any time the entire Seireitei would be destroyed, everything can be recreated from their knowledge. Zanpakutoes, robes, magic, all knowledge and history.
Sure they are powerful. But they are not soldiers. They are a living archive.
