Gekkan shoujo was pretty funny, but there were just too many scenes that felt like they stretched out a 4 panel 4koma into a 5 minute sketch for me to really get behind it. Definitely got some good laughs out of me though!
TWGOK was pretty funny, and probably my favorite straight comedy. I like comedy, but there must be a difference in comedy between US and Japan because most anime do it really poorly. It's hard to explain, but anime has a really hard time with brevity. KyoAni is the only studio that really seems to get it for me. Nichijou was really off compared to their other stuff imo. Most of anime's jokes get strung out SO LONG, even if their source material thrives on quick wit. Genshiken is my go to example for this, the manga is brilliant but the anime really missed it. There are very few shows that are as consistently funny as TWGOK, but I'm happy it did more than that in its third season.
I guess my comedy list would be something like:

It surprisingly made it into one of my all time favorites. Every single character was likeable, no trite clichés, and it had me audibly laughing pretty much every episode. The ending was such a tease but still so good.
