I thought it was kind of hilarious how each episode added another layer to the audience's view of the past and you slowly realize Vogler probably wasn't bad and then when you finally see the whole message it's just a giant slap to the face.All of it could've been prevented.Hilarious, but sad.
I wouldn't call it the best, OP, probably not even amazing, but I did like a lot of things about it. The art direction and animation especially are probably what could actually be considered one of the best or close to it. The characters are also a strong point.

I would definitely consider this one of my favorite scenes of anything I've watched.
I felt like the second half was lacking in something though. Maybe a little more depth? The first four episodes gave so much time to the The Experts of Justice, but most of The Magnificent Ten weren't given much besides the ones shown in the first half of the OVA. I did like seeing everyone's super powers though, that was cool.
So, yeah, it's good, but not the best. In my opinion, of course.

Yeah, I was kind of disappointed almost none of the robots in the OP were ever shown in the actual show. I just assumed it was kind of like a prologue sort of thing that's probably detailed in the manga, but it was still upsetting.
GR is definitely up there for me. It left me wanting so much more.

Love it dearly to this day. Art, OST and the grand story ooze a feeling of love for the medium and genre. Still get goosebumps when I hear the Big Fire theme. It's like the Imperial March of animu.

Just one? It was supposed to be a seven part story, where The Day The Earth Stood Still was just the penultimate one.
