I don't get it, /a/.
This anime followed every single high school romance-harem trope that exists and should have been the generic as fuck. Combine that with the fact that it has an extraordinary amount of filler even for the genre, and you get a series that on paper, should be everything I hate.
Then why did I end up really enjoying Nisekoi? Did anybody else have a similar experience with the show?

The anime has amazing direction and good visuals. As for the manga, it also has very good visuals and it panders softly to the taste of different people even if nothing happens.

I watched all 20 episodes over a period of 5 days when I was very busy at work. I was great to come home and watch something that wasn't mentally taxing and occasionally gives a laugh or two. Also, the characters are fun which makes it especially attractive to me.

However there are good tropes and there are bad tropes.Or tropes you like and tropes you dislike, since taste is subjective. While I assume that Nisekoi has some tropes you dislike as wellEh nandatte?it will have enough redeeming qualities, which are in this case tropes you didn't mind or even liked, but never gave much thought, because usually shows that utilize these tropes are using horrible examples as well and so they're horrible overall.

I don't think there is necessarily such a dichotomy of good and bad tropes. I think it's got more to do with how well the tropes are executed and whether the show adds something special to the mix. By achieving these two criteria I think Nisekoi succeeds in being more than the sum of its parts.

Personally I think it's because that's the joke. It's intentionally doing it to fuck with the audience and intentionally finds ways to cock block any sort of resolution because the author couldn't make the series he wanted to make and this is his revenge.
That's Nisekoi in a nutshell. Understanding it helps you to enjoy it. Also, Shaft tilt bullshit works perfect with this series, it's 100% their thing.

Nisekoi is a generic harem executed well. There's nothing inherently wrong with harems since the goal is ultimately fanservice, but the fact of the matter is, most harems don't show enough respect to the genre.
The girls are more interesting than purely cut and paste archetypes, the protagonist isn't so undefined that it's a stretch for all the girls to like him, and there's the bare minimum requirement of narrative technique. It doesn't really do anything special, it just does everything a little better than what we have now.
So no OP, your taste ain't shit, Nisekoi is about as good as anyone can do at harem without bringing up the question of whether or not it's still harem.
