What are some good anime movies before 1980? Just don't rec any of the usual like Ghibli (or pre-Ghibli movies like Castle of Cagliostro).

Seems like most anime film recs always start with Ghibli but Leiji Matsumoto and Osamu Tezuka were already making films. Genuinely curious about anime films pre-1980.

Aim for the Ace is an amazing anime film.
Grab a BD release of it and marvel at all the colors.
There is also Wanpaku Ōji no Orochi Taiji.

Before ~1980 from Toei Hakujaden, Gulliver's Space Travels, Horus, Animal Treasure Island, Taro the Dragon Boy were probably my favorites The Little Prince and the Eight-Headed Dragon, Puss in Boots and Flying Phantom Ship were good too. The 60s Cyborg 009 films were alright. Probably forgetting something.

Damn that's a name of an anime I haven't heard since the early 2000s (I only saw the 2001 anime).
I think Kanashimi no Belladonna and Candy Candy were made somewhere in the 70's
