He did the slurring very well, but had a couple minor mistakes on a couple lines, and a few more that could've been done better but were passable. The hardest parts of this chapter were deciphering the slurring and the poem, so aside from those, it wasn't exactly a test of skill.

Did good ole Hide have a plan? Some people think he scooped up Amon's arm before meeting up with Kaneki.

I think Hide offered a bit of himself for a few reasons. One was he didn't appear to have anything on him aside from what he was wearing. I also believe he was actually there because of what he said to Kaneki got a reaction out of black-hair Kaneki, and I don't think Kaneki's imagination could have produced that reaction on its own.
He's also probably alive, as I doubt Kaneki in his starved state would have killed Hide, and then aimlessly walked around for a while. I think he ate a good chunk of Hide and Hide walked off on his own, or that the guy who looking for Amon found him.
There wasn't a 'plan'. He just told Kaneki to do his best and essentially gave him a health kit like in a game. The only thing Hide could do after is mislead the investigators that would pursue Kaneki, which would be why he left. Sticking with Kaneki wouldn't help him nearly as much.
