My personal favorite is Naoki Urasawa. He is the master at drawing faces. You can tell the race, age and characteristics of a character just from it. The kids really do look like their adult version without using cheap tricks (like a distinctive or same hairstyle as older version, same clothes, etc). And the expressions... the guy is a genius of drawing faces. Its as good as 2d gets without falling into the uncanny valley that some artists fall into.
