Is there any way to fix the crazy amount of screen-tearing I get when unlocking the frame rate with ds1 fix? I'd like to play at 60fps but the screen-tearing makes my eyeballs bleed and looks way worse than a low frame rate.

It took me several hours and probably 20 tries to get out of the Asylum. Then it took me several hours to get out of Firelink, because I didn't see the path up along the mountain. Instead I tried to go down the catacombs and got raped by skellies a lot. Then I tried to go down NLR and didn't make it past the first mobs because I didn't know about transient curse. Then I opened that gate with the master key and tried to fight the drakes, and then went down to Blighttown and died a lot. The game sure felt hard.

Also, I was fatrolling. In fact I fatrolled all the way to Sen's Fortress.
And in Sen's I didn't know how to aim bows to take out the fist snek mage waiting beyond one of the pendulum axe ledges. I had to die at least a dozen times until I managed to perfect the timing required to run through the axe trap and not get hit by snek lightning.

I was gonna ask why Bloodborne wasn't in the OP but then I saw that Lucifer guy below.
Anyway can we talk about Demon's Souls? I saw it a few days ago on PSN sale for like 5 yuros and since I heard good things about the Souls games I decided to buy it. Haven't played it to death yet but so far I'd say it's pretty fun. I really like the message system. Took me a while to figure out you healed when someone recommended your messages so for a while I thought "I'm in trouble-- Please recommend this message!" was just shitposting. Is that system in all the Souls games?
Anyway so far I've killed Phalanx, and the Armored Spider with help from a multiplayer guy. It's too bad it was basically him doing everything, I'll have to go back and explore on my own now. It feels like I cheated, but I can't be asked to start another save from scratch. Then I tried exploring more of the palace and died at one of the towers after the red dragon attacks.
Does anyone have some webms of cool things happening in the game? I need to find a goal for myself.
Also I really hate the maiden's speech pattern. She's cute with the normal accent but those old words and her irishness ruin it for me.

While I do share some sentiments of some netizens here, the one who should be the voice of this board (I'm sorry I had to say this, albeit I'm new to the board. Forgive me senpais ;A;) is ironically--is you 4channers would put it--is Lucifer. He/she (I don't want to offend you, as you might have some gender you want to classify to) has given some concrete data as to put qualms into place. The DaS1 characters were amazing, a bunch of the named phantoms in DaS2 seemed like they could have made great characters, and I'm kind of upset that DaS3 doesn't have as great and original characters as the rest of them. I just did a test comparing 40/40 refined to 66 strength on the same weapon. Even 2 handed quality won out with 33 more AR. Is there ever a reason to go full STR in this game? Why is quality so broken? The only reason I could see is putting those points you would have used in dex into vit for heavier armor but what's the point if poise is off?

Because the dragon head and the dragon body are two seperate parts and From is lazy shite the two pieces don't actually mesh together at all. It's even more noticable when naked with the dragon head and normal body.
Does it bother anyone else that From said they took the content of 2 DLCs to make The Old Hunters? I think challenge shouldn't be based on random drops on enemies, or at least it should be based on that as little as possible.
Lifegems/grass is imo a bad healing solution since unless you greatly limit the max amount you can hold, you're going to trivialize the midgame and endgame.
Limiting the amount of healing your players will have, will allow you to design more consistent challenge in levels and bosses, maybe do a DS3 type system where you can earn heals from killed enemies so it would encourage you to try your luck even with depleted heals or use heal spells instead.

Are you fucking kidding? It's visible in the game. Every time you meet him, except for Firelink, he's at some challenge that's easier than the last one you met him at. First time you meet him, he's up against something that he can't beat. You can't walk through the gate. He didn't know about the two bells making it open, so he doesn't really know any better. Next time, about two hundred feet away, you meet him up against a ball. Unlike the gate where it was beyond his knowledge, this one is beyond his ability. Then you meet him in Anor Londo, where he suggests you need five people to handle three Silver Knights when you solo them. Hell, he's even antsy to get his feet wet in the Blighttown Swamp without some moss. Every time you help him out, you make him feel like an even bigger pussy than he already felt like. He then goes suicidal in Izalith, jumping into a poison pit of those eyeball things with the hope that he could just die doing something cool, instead of being having his hand held until the end of his days. Then, when he's all softened up by you holding his hand throughout his entire journey, in Ash Lake where he met the Hydra, he couldn't take it, and went Hollow.
No character's story in DaS2 or DaS3 is that good because hardly anyone else fails.

I always just assumed lords were a different race from humanity and therefore bigger. It's implied the lords who found the lord souls and the pygmy were two different kinds of creatures, or that they were the same and humanity just became smaller by being born from the pygmy.

Around the time of the first game, the gods are on average larger than humans (which is why Artorias is a big guy), because humans are descended from a Pygmy. But because it's a fantasy setting humans can still get really big (e.g. people from Berenike).
Over time, large humans (like several characters in DaS2, Gundyr and Boreal Valley inhabitants) become more common. It might be that as the gods have died out they've interbred with humans, or the trait that makes people like the Berenike knights really huge has been spread around. It's possible that being more powerful makes you bigger but I don't think there's really any indication of that beyond Ornstein's transformation (and that might just be a power unique to him).
Sulyvahn might also be mutated by the Dark/Deep/Profaned Flame or some other shit.The real life reason is because bigger enemies look more intimidating. In the first game this was kept in mind but still worked into the lore. B-Team just mindlessly copied some dudes being really big without any rhyme or reason. DaS3 just fucking memes everywhere and makes almost everyone xbox hueg just because.

It's just a game design thing.
Bosses that are player-sized in 3rd-person games tend to be a pain in the ass because your own character gets in the way of seeing them clearly and telegraphs are much harder to see.
Think of it this way, when you're fighting a boss, your focus is 100% completely on that boss. If the boss is player-sized, you have this tiny target taking up a tiny slice of your screen and half-obscured by your own character and the entire resit of your screen is just nothing, it's just dead space. If the boss is a big guy then he takes up a huge section of your screen and stands well above your own character, making sure that his design is as visible as possible and balances screens pace as well as possible, while also making sure that his attack and action telegraphs are never obscured by your own character.
It's objectively better design to make humanoid bosses bigger than you. Even Lady Maria in BB is a good head taller than the player.

Firelink GS is pretty damn good, actually.
It's the longest bastard sword GS and the buff gives it enough base fire damage to compensate for being split damage. It ends up being a high-base damage weapon that's effective on any build that can wield it. It's not as optimal as Hollowslayer or Claymore or Wolf GS, but it's also not worse enough to actually make much of a difference. The only downside to it is that the WA is only safe basically at max range, which means that it can be hard to maintain the buff in long fights.

Drop down, you can climb a ladder and pick up the first treasure, I believe it was a soul shard. You can also open an illusory wall and kill the non-respawning giant that opened the gates for you and get a %100 drop titanite chunk.
