Are CVs going to be good again next patch? I'm really not liking this bow in, sail in reverse or peek-a-boo meta shit.
It's not even hard to deal with, it's just really boring and sucks all of the enjoyment out of playing. If I wanted to see ships sitting still, I'd just sit in the dock and look at all the ship previews.

It happened even before CV's went away. All you needed was either a couple of cruisers circling around you or the CV to be focused on the other side of the map. Which happened pretty often. CV's helped mask the issue, but it has always been there.
Decrease repair costs for T8 through 10 and make citadels from the front easier, so that angling remains a viable tactic for reducing one's profile and keeping it hard to hit. And nerf fucking Yamato while at it, her shells should be as effective as Montana's.

I do 5-7k salvos against Tirpitzes and Colorados when shooting into their superstructure. I've found plunging AP into superstructures don't do much, but if it has a flatter trajectory (i.e. about < 10km), it eats up superstructures like nothing.

Angle. Use terrain to your advantage to get below the 10 km range. At that range you can murder cruisers with ease, and enemy battleships lose their advantage on your deck armor. Don't go after far off objectives because you'll never make it. Pick the shortest non-suicide route to the shortest objective. T8s can and will murder you, anything at your tier or below is food.
I mean, I don't know how to be more specific or where to focus. Overall it's all about brawling (and more importantly, how to get into brawl range without dying in the process).

this is pretty much how i played new york, new mexico, north carolina and iowa.
sometimes i rush into the enemy with montana to hunt cruisers but this is not a good idea because of the repair costs so i can't do this as much as i'd love to
what you really want to do is sail into the enemy and take cover immediately, otherwise they'll burn you down with HE :^)

that's aim assist. An old version but that's a way you can spot it in screenshots. If zoomed in there's also circles in front of ships, which is what the numbers calculate to show the location where you shoot to hit the exact middle, aka citadel, of the ship if nothing changes.

Pray that MM gives you a T3-5 match. Don't ever go full broadside - survival is more important than firepower. Try to stick to an actual CL like Omaha so that any target you engage will have to choose between getting free exp from you or dealing with an actual threat. The furutaka can practically one salvo an omaha if he gives you his citadel. When I played furutaka pre buff I played it like a mini BB. I'd sail straight at targets and preaim my turrets in a particular direction. The furutaka has such a small and angled frontal profile that most HE will just bracket you and AP will bounce. Then once I was at an optimal range I'd turn enough to put my guns on target.
The buffed furutaka's playstyle is practically identical to myoko's.

I personally used the slower firing speed, increased traverse speed because I value traverse speed more than .5RPM, which is made up for with the tier 1 skill anyway.
Didn't bother with any other upgrades as I sold her for Ibuki. Though I imagine the lower fire/flood chance, increased rudder shift speed and the concealment module would be the best choices.

Wait, so now everyone here uses aim assist? What's the point? I don't even need to do ranging shots these days to get direct hits, it all comes out naturally. I have learned to notice the small visual cues before an enemy starts turning noticeably. My cruisers have a 40%+ hit rate, 45%+ with soviet DD's, and 30-34% on BB0s, with a 65% overall WR and decent to good average damage (varying per ship and type of course).
What's the purpose? Learning the aiming minute details It's not even particularly hard, and it feels rewarding when you snapshot a salvo into a maneuvering DD.
