It will always be the demon in the first slot unless you release her. It's just simpler to not even fuse her anyway. Just level her up to a Queen Mab and use her as a heal slut until the final kalpa.

Be warned. There's some sort of glitch from emulating and you can't get any farther. Have to change your emulation settings. Some puzzle with elevators or something.

Remember to exploit enemy weaknesses whenever possible.
If you get stuck on a boss, then fuse some new demons. Grinding almost never works.

Aw fuck, I remember that. It's in the Assembly of Nihilo. If you can't go down a ladder, go to Config - Advanced, and set Round Mode to Nearest.
That's the only emulation problem with the game as far as I know.
The atmosphere might be the best in any game ever, plenty of cool locales coming up.
Music too shares a composer with the rest of the games in the series and is all just great. Like anon said above DDS is a nice second game if you want more.
Buffs and Debuffs are your best friends
Just enjoy the game. If you get in a bind, rethink your approach and fuse new demons. The agility raising buffs and debuffs (sukunda, sukaja, fog breath) pretty much break a lot of the boss fights (IIRC) if you want easy mode
