Level design is overall weaker than Doom 1.
Just 1 new weapon (yes the SSG is awesome, but they could have added something else).
An even lamer final boss than the Spider Mastermind.
On it's own Doom 2 is pretty lackluster compared to Doom 1, however it added more modding capabilities, so there's that.
not enough new shit. like only a handful of new enemies and 2 new weapons... they should have totally amped up the carnage and made 2 as much of a quantum leap as there was between wolfenstein and 1

I prefer to live in a world where Doom 2 was nothing but a expansion pack but Quake exists rather than a full Doom 2 game but Quake is never released.
