I've been hanging out a lot in the rate threads the past week or so, and I find it really interesting to see how different people get rated.
So what I was wondering is, what is your rating philosophy? What makes a '5' a '5?' What makes a '9' a '9?' Do you factor in people's style? Do you rate them based on whether they look like people from your social circle, and thusly potentially dateable? Do you assume things about their personality that moves their score higher or lower?
For me, I think most everyone is at least a 5. I usually am able to find a redeeming quality about someone's looks. Occasionally someone will be a 4, but it's usually if the picture is bad and if I perceive them to have a bad attitude or if they are unnecessarily roasting people (ugly on the inside, ugly on the outside). Also, since I'm a little bit more mainstream in my looks, personality, hobbies, and interests, I try to make sure to be as objective as possible about people that look differently from me.
Anyway, just thought this might be an interesting discussion. Please share your rating philosophy! :)

Apparently, everyone on here hates piercings. If you got them, expect a point or two docked off, or a bunch of points if they're more pretentious than your regular bloke.

For me, it goes something like.
1-3, varying degree of unattractive. I do not find that person attractive, and I don't believe others would either.
4, I don't find that person attractive, but I could see why other people would.
5, Not attracted to that person, but not unattractive. Basically, the person isn't unattractive I'm just not sexually attracted to them.
6, They are above average in terms of looks, but still no sexual attraction.
7, I find this person attractive, and am sexually attracted to them.
8-9, same as 7, but to a greater degree.
10, shouldn't even exist. I don't think I've ever given out a 10/10

I don't understand how to rate people, and I figure most people who do rate base them on their own preferences. Doesn't really feel fair, but at the same time I'm going into this thinking the people who want rates also know this.
The most I will do is, "You have nice eyes/hair/cool teeth," etc, I don't rate.

I have the same scale as you. It worries me a lot because I'm only ever rated like 6 at most and I can't get girls irl and girls on here might just say I'm cute, non sexually. What can I do? Am I plain fucked!?

I have 9 of them myself, and while yes, she's a beautiful girl, her piercings arent placed well on her face, and its overdone, to point of trying too hard to be edgy. Theres people who like piercings on the look alone, then theres those who try to be the edgiest person in the room.
