I'm not so sure anymore. They removed the jungle training section from their reserves and selection is becoming less pushed for (at least my impression from the Army was selection being pushed aside).
I think that the SAS are always training somewhere but I don't think they're deployed much these days.
Saying that, I went for selection a few years back and anyone who can pass that has got to be fucking nails. I also heard that the US and lots of other countries basically use the SAS selection.

The problem is hollywood creates this impervious myth around special forces, but ultimately, they're like a really good tool in your shed designed for a specific task. They're like pruning shears. They are small, neat, precised. When you watch your CoD, Michael Bay crap you start to think they're this impervious team of Rambos. A lucky burst from an AK, or a stray mortar shell will wipe them out as much as anybody. They're all trained to high levels of fitness, all can shoot really well, but ultimately, they rely on coordination with the regular military assets to be functional.
