Because when they turned up in Africa to colonize the locals weren't genocidally wiped out by the diseases that they brought with them in the same way as the local poplualtions of the americas and australia were. It was much easier to colonize empty space.

Algeria, South Africa, Rhodesia, any of Portugal colonies were all colonised to the same extent that Australia and the Americas were, there was just way more natives so eventually the Europeans got kicked out.

Because of settler mortality rates from various factors African colonies were Extractive colonies and not Settler colonies like the America and Australia.
I wrote an essay on this for history at uni.
Basically it was harder to live as a settler in Africa because of disease and animals and aggressive and numerous natives

Pardon the incoming burgersplaining, but Virginia, (the first British colony in NA) was a literal hellhole for decades. Jamestown had ridiculous mortality rates from disease and starvation and Roanoake was completely wiped off the map. The Virginia colony didn't turn a profit until tobacco (which was much later in the colony's history).
