To explain that, I would have to write more that 4chan could handle. Molotov-ribbentrop pact came from stalins side regarding the splitting of poland. Hitler agreed because he knew that if poland hears of that, they are forced to negotiate and will no longer ignore germany. Since poland removed their diplomat from berlin thanks to britain giving them the "go", all negotiations with poland went through britain. Germany told everyone (uk, france and US) about the pact/treaty but they didn´t tell poland because they knew that it would avoid war. And since britain, or rather halifax, didn´t forward negotiations to poland either, Hitler thought poland would simply ignore germany. That's not exactly true. There's several books of that kind that are popular in Germany, including those written by Jan Tomasz Gross. They are popular because they effectively lift any blame from Germans to Poles.
