Yeah actually, in addition to being a frequent camper, I also hunt often. Moose is one of the animals I avoid the most, more than even wolves. I would literally rather wake up to a pack of wolves outside my tent than a moose, because the wolves will actually stop attacking at some point, especially if I make lots of noise.

North Carolina is where it started and that was decades ago. Maybe these people aren't seeing "big coyotes" at all.
I think it may be a genuine mistake. People don't know about red wolves, and when they see one I bet most people would say it's a "big coyote".
He fucked up in so many ways before using that gun.
The moose was cautious while it was walking away, and he revved his snowmobile and inched towards it. That was his first mistake. The moose then attacked because it saw him as a threat, but the moose only made a warning hit and the cameraguy scared if off nicely by clapping his hands and spreading his body out and standing his ground. That was a good move. Then the cameraguy decides to pull out the gun and start shooting, which makes the moose want to start attacking again (second mistake) which forces the guy to kill the moose with a couple of more shots.
The final mistake is the fact that he just leaves the moose there instead of skinning it and taking its meat, but then again we don't know the full video so maybe he's going to his cabin to get his tools and he'll come back to scavenge it.
Either way, the death of that moose and its attack on the cameraman could've been avoided.
Oh well at least we got a sick webm out of it.

i agree to this. the trick is to know that you will lose something. you dont count your eggs before they hatch. you dont count your profit, before you take your livestock to slaughter. there are always some casualties. whether that be from disease or predator.

I'm not sure what the going rate is in Leafland, but we have a number of game processors down in my area. Pricing varies, but they mostly charge by the pound with a minimum charge. The average is probably somewhere around $0.75/lb for a dressed and quartered animal, though I know a butcher who processes game on the side at his home for $0.50/lb.
I'll also repeat what I said earlier about getting that meat cooled down. It is important. Poor care in the field can lead to shitty meat. On bigger critters like elk (I'd guess meeses too, but I've never even hunted them,) there is a tendon in the back of the neck that will not cool down very quickly, even if it is 10f outside and the rest of the meat is already cool. Just cut all the way down to the bone all the way down the back of the neck after you're done skinning, and that'll take care of it.
